New Arizona Child Support Guidelines

On June 1, 2011, the new Arizona Child Support Guidelines went into effect. The major difference in the new guidelines is that the schedule of basic child support obligations has been increased due to increases in cost of living since the 2005 guidelines were established.

For people filing for divorce going forward, these new Guidelines will apply. If you already have an existing child support order, you may be able to modify your existing order. However, you must file with the Court to have it changed. The Court will not be taking any action on its own to modify your child support amount. In order to qualify for a modification, you must show the Court that the new amount of child support to be ordered is at least 15% more or 15% less than the child support that is currently ordered.

It is about time that Arizona raises these child support amounts. Raising a child today is a lot more expensive than on 2005.
